Mahboob Khizan

Mahboob Khizan, born as Mahboob Siddiqi on July 1, 1930, in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, was a renowned Urdu poet. Inspired by the melancholic beauty of autumn (khizaan), he chose "Khizan" as his pen name.

After the partition of India, he moved to Pakistan and pursued a career in civil service. In 1952, he successfully cleared the CSP examination and became the Assistant Accountant General of Punjab. Over the years, he rose through the ranks, eventually retiring as the Accountant General of Sindh on June 30, 1990.

Unlike many poets of his time, Khizan never had a literary mentor, yet his poetry resonated deeply with readers. His collection Akeli Bastiyaan reflects themes of solitude, longing, and introspection.

Despite his literary fame, Mahboob Khizan remained unmarried and lived a quiet life in Karachi after retirement. He passed away on December 4, 2013, leaving behind a legacy of heartfelt poetry that continues to be cherished.
